The summer capital of Chand kings, Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was established as a forest reserve in 1988. The height of this sanctuary persists between 900 – 2500 metres with its highest point being Zero Point, offers a fascinating views of nearby peaks. The sanctuary is located at 30 kms away from Almora district which is very rich in flora and fauna. It is also very much famous for its magnificent view of sunrise and sunsets.
The sanctuary has opaque forest which includes many special trees like oak and pine etc. situated at the higher and lower altitudes. The place is perfect for the bird watchers because a visitor can trek to the sanctuary and watch the birds and animals, lived within the Sanctuary.

One can reach Binsar via air as the nearest airport is Pantnagar, which is approx. 157 km away. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is approx. 120 kms. away.
