Chakrata is situated at a height of approx. 7000 – 7250 feet in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand, India and is a cantonment town. There is another state; Himachal Pradesh is adjoining from west side of Chakrata and on its east there is the queen of hills, Mussoorie which is just 73 km away.
In the year 1866, British Indian Army established in Chakrata a cantonment of the 55th Regiment which was occupied by the officers and troops in the year 1869.  In today’s scenario, Chakrata is military cantonment and foreigners has to face restrictions to visit here.
Chakratra has a lavishness of oaks, rhododendrons and conifers.  The main attractions which are nearby Chakrata are Mundali meadows, budher (Moila Danda), Tiger Fall, Kansar and Devban etc.
