A small village, Hanol is about 15 kilometres forward of Tuni on the bank of river Tons.  In Hanol village, there is a temple of Lord Mahasu situated at a height of approx. 1,429 metres above sea level. The architecture of the temple is constructed in architectural style.   According to the beliefs, the name of the city was kept after the name of a Brahmin named Huna Bhatt.  Earlier, the area was known as “Chakrapur”.  Hanol, the city of temple is a pilgrim location of Uttarakhand, India.  It is said that during the era of Mahabharat, Duryodhana came to Purola during his visit to Kullu and Kashmir.  He liked Purola so much that he decided to stay there only. He pleaded Mahsu Devta for an invention of place.  Lord Mahasu accepted his plea and made him an expert of the place and he developed Mahasu Devta Temple here.
