The famously known “NAINI LAKE”, is said to be the lifeline of Nainital.  The lake was founded by P. Baron long back in the year 1839.   It is situated right in the middle of the town which is surrounded by the seven hills.  Attractions for the tourists include boating facilities and alternatively a slow paced wander around the lake offers a peaceful relaxation like no other.  It is a naturally fresh water body in the district which is famously known as the “lake district of India”, Nainital.
The significance of the lake is so much that the name of the district is on its name Naini. According to the tourists come here, the visit to Nainital is incomplete if you haven’t done boating in the Naini lake as during boating, you get mesmerized by the scenic views surrounded by the lake.
To reach Naini Lake, one can easily take bus or taxi from the nearest railway station at Kathgodam at a distance of 35 kms or the airport at Pantnagar which is 55 kms. away.
