Ram Jhula or Shivananda Jhula, a major landmark of Rishikesh, is an iron suspension bridge, constructed on River Ganges. Ram Jhula is situated only 3 kilometres away from the main city of Rishikesh which connects Shivananda Ashram to Swarg Ashram. In earlier times, Ram Jhula was a jute rope hanging bridge which was without any pillar. Public Works Department of Rishikesh built the bridge with the help of Sivananda Ashram Divine Life Society in the year 1980. A tourist can buy original gems, precious and semi-precious stones, puja items, ayurvedic medicines, clothes, jewellery, rudraksh beads and CDs and tapes etc.
