Hanuman Garhi is a famous Lord Hanuman temple, which is located at the south of Tallital and just approx. three and half kilometre away from main Nainital bus stop. Hanuman Garhi temple is located at a height of 6,401 feet from the sea level. The temple was built in the year around 1950 by Baba Neem Karoli, a local famous saint. As its name shows, the temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman who himself was a devotee of Lord Rama. According to the ancient holy books, Lord Hanuman proved that images of Lord Rama and Devi Sita are present here within his heart by opening his chest. The temple has a 7 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman and inside the temple, there are other idols of other dieties like Lord Rama, Lakshman, Godess Sita, Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati and others.
Other than its religious importance, the place is also famous for its scenic beauty which also include the fantastic view of sunrise and sunset. Visitors are advised not to miss the opportunity to visit place while visiting Nainital.
